Owls Plan Blue & White For Cardiff

Wednesday have arranged a 'blue and white day' for the visit of Cardiff City to Hillsborough this weekend.

Chairman Lee Strafford is hoping for a carnival atmosphere at S6 that will help power Wednesday to a much-needed three points in the Championship.

And he's calling for the S6 faithful to help out, with fans being asked to wear their blue and white replica home shirts, from any season if not this, to make Hillsborough fully blue and white.

The Kop band will also be in attendance for the second home match on the spin, following on from Middlesborugh.

Strafford told the official SWFC website: 'We have enjoyed some really good matches at Hillsborough already this season and Saturday's game should bring us an excellent atmosphere once again.

'Our events team has put together an entertaining programme for Saturday's match against Cardiff so it would be great if Wedneayites can turn out in their droves again and show their colours by wearing blue and white on the day.'

The Owls will also become the first club in the country to stock South African style-trumpets - vuvuzelas - in the Megastore before the game for fans to add their own noise to the match.

I can see a 'battle' of the bands going on between the Kop Band and , well, the rest of the stadium!

I may be a little cynical here, but this looks like a blatent attempt to sell more shirts to me. Not good!

??? theres none in the chuffing store for a kick off, and why would it be a bad thing anyway
wesp
Why? because the price of getting to the match alone is certainly not cheap, by naming a day Blue and White day kids in particular are likley to feel that they should fit in and those without shirts will more than likely put pressure on parents. All this talk of let's create a feel good factor is very welcome, but this looks more like let's try an milk more money out of the fans. You may well feel that this is fair enough, that's waht we're here for, but I do not. I hate to think what I have spent watching Wedensday over the years and rather than take advantage of those that attend, maybe we should be trying to attract more fans back. As I say, I may be being cynical, but I don't like the sentiment.

He's trust trying to create positivity, and he's been doing a great of it too. Besides have you forgotton who our shirt sponsors are and the workings behind that. I'm sure it wont be compulsory anyway, so you can put your old tank top on if ya like LOL so long as its blue or white

i honestly cant believe there's people here criticising this. Just like mighty said, you don't have to wear a replica shirt, its just to create a great atmosphere so fans get a bit more from their matchday experience. If u dont agree then wear whatever u like, but give the man a chance, not in my lifetime has a wednesday chairman tried so hard to change our fortunes with methods that try to satisfy all aspects of our club; fans, players, management, community, etc etc

Maybe that's the answer. look out for the guy in the ill fitting top riding comfotably up above his belly - that'll be me then. Actually, I still have top from the 1991 wembly final (I think it was Rumbelows back then) I may well dust the cobwebs off that. Cheers
dobby1
can't get this seasons yet, might wear the god awful one from mid 90's , always hated it but it's that bad i've grown to like it in a weird way
wesp
Just get your mam to knit you something blue&white. On a serious note you cannot knock the chairman for trying anything to give us an advantage. He will have his knockers whatever he tries maybe giving free shirts is the answer, but he would get slated for that, cmon give him a chance.
