Owls Wing Wizard Aims For Cardiff Start

Wednesday winger Etienne Esajas is hoping his fine second-half performance against Sheffield United last week gives him his first league start of the season against Cardiff on Saturday.

The Dutch winger has found himself mainly on the fringes of the Wednesday first team since his arrival at Hillsborough, playing second fiddle to Jermaine Johnson and Michael Gray this term.

But he produced a fine showing at Bramall Lane last Friday, scoring a superb free-kick in the process, to give manager Brian Laws plenty of food for thought for the weekend visit of the Bluebirds.

Laws has already admitted that he should have played Esajas from the start in the Steel City Derby clash, and he could give him his first Championship start of the season on Saturday.

Wether he fits Esajas, Johnson and Gray into the same side remains to be seen, but the Dutchman will certainly be in Laws' plans for the visit of the Welsh side.

to be honest the derby match was the first time this season that i had seen him play well granted he hasnt had much game time but when he has he hasnt done anything in my opinion-ive been disappointed with him so far before the derby however ive always thought that we are far more dangerous with 2 wingers and especially if its esajas and johnson(gray is not a winger hes a left back!!!!!) i think we could look far more dangerous going forward as despite his early season form we cant rely on johnson to pull it off all the time because he cant!!!

The one thing about putting Esajas in there is that you lose the defensive qualities of Gray, and he'll offer Spurr little support. I'd like to give him a go, we've never really given him a run in the team yet, and maybe that's what he needs?

yeah but all gray does is confuse himself and tommy spurr about their own positions as ya can see from the 2nd goal against boro-even though it was a bad pass from purse neither of them were in their proper positions!!! id like to give him a chance as his contract is up at the end of the season and i would like him to sign a new contract with us!!!!
