Owls Skipper Purse Set For Friends Reunited

Owls Skipper Purse Set For Friends Reunited

Wednesday's clash with Cardiff City in the Championship today should bear some extra significance for one player, skipper Darren Purse, as he faces his former club for the first time.

Purse, who also played for Birmingham City and West Brom, spent four years as a Bluebird before making the switch to Hillsborough over the summer on a free transfer.

But, despite numerous happy memories while wearing the blue of Cardiff, Purse insists today's game is just another on the fixture calendar that he'll be trying to bag three points for Wednesday.

"Sure, I`m looking forward to it, but it's very much just another game of football for me now, " Purse told WalesOnline.co.uk.

"You can't make a big deal out of it. You don't want to be doing things differently just because you used to play for the other club or things will start going wrong for you.'

Although classed as the signing of the summer by most Wednesdayites, Purse has come under some scrutiny in recent matches, and will be hoping to put those doubts firmly to bed.

He'll be lining up alongside Richard Wood at the heart of the Owls defence this afternoon, with Tommy Spurr and Lewis Buxton at either side, and he'll be looking to help Wednesday to a vital three points.
