Simek Could Turn To Loan Move

Wednesday's injury-hit defender Frank Simek could look towards a loan move to help him get back into the Owls first team this season.

The American has been plagued by a series of injuries over the last few seasons which have limited his starts in the famous blue and white stripes recently.

He now finds himself down the pecking order and behind the much-criticised Lewis Buxton, without valuable game time to gently get him back into first team action, although he has featured heavily in the reserve side.

But the former Arsenal trainee has hinted that he could well look towards a loan move to get regular first team football, and prove to boss Brian Laws, who recommended the defender go out on loan, that he's ready for a return to the Owls back four.

He told the Sheffield Star that he wants his future to be at Sheffield Wednesday, but that "The gaffer told me a couple of weeks ago he would allow me to go out on loan."

Simek could yet get a shot in the first team when Wednesday take on Coventry City in their next Championship outing.

Laws was critical of his men, especially the defence, in their 3-0 defeat at Derby County at the weekend, and he's set to ring the changes.

Right-back Buxton and captain Darren Purse have come in for most criticism from Wednesdayites following the Pride Park defeat.

But Simek is in his last year of his contract as an Owl, and he'll be looking to get back into the Owls first team - whether that be through impressing on a short-term loan, or taking his chance if, and when, it comes.

If they send him out on loan when Buxton's confidence is in his boots is insane. Purse was played in the first few games when he lacked match practice and he had no form to play into. If Simek has a future at this club he should be played, if he can't cut the mustard then we don't offer a new contract but at least he should be given a chance.

Fun time Frankie has proved he can cut the mustard every time he's played in Blue & White! I'd rather have a below match fit, reliable no nonesense Simek than a match fit inconsistent, unreliable and nervy Buxton! I can see how bad Buxton is from the other side of the world in Australia so not sure why BL cant see it under his nose? I trust BL implicitly so expect big changes at the back at Coventry!!
Owls That!
If he is playing in the Res then he should have some sort of match fitness?? Should revert back to our best back 4 in Frankie, Woody, Beevers and Tommy!!! Purse and Buxton have had their chances time to give Frankie his!!
