Laws Reveals Purse Concerns

Wednesday boss Brian Laws has revealed that captain Darren Purse won't be exempt from possibly being dropped for next weekend's Championship clash with Coventry City.

Laws revealed that he'd be making changes to the Owls starting eleven following their performance in the 3-0 defeat against Derby County last time out.

Defenders Purse and Lewis Buxton both took a share of the blame from the travelling Wednesdayites, but Laws pointed at the team as a whole rather than blaming the defeat on individual performances.

But Laws has come out in media reports this week and revealed that former Cardiff City man Purse 'hasn't got to the standards we expect', when speaking to the Sheffield Telegraph.

He also said: 'I'm not hanging him out to dry. The point is that no-one is excluded from being possibly dropped.'

Purse has played every league game at the back for Wednesday so far this season after being handed the captain's armband by Laws following his pre-season move to Hillsborough.

But he could be in line for a place on the bench against the Sky Blues a week on Saturday, with both Mark Beevers and Richard Hinds battling for a place in the starting eleven following the Derby horror show.

I'll believe it when I see it.

As much as I think he deserves to be dropped, I can see why Laws might be hesitant? Did no one see the Soccer AM episode when he out punched Karl Froch on one of those fairground punch balls!!
