Wednesday boss Brian Laws insists his side got exactly what they deserved in the 4-1 thumping against Watford on Friday night.
The Owls suffered arguably their worst defeat of the season in front of the Sky TV cameras at Vicarage Road, and Laws was left to blast his troops, revealing he was 'bitterly disappointed' with his team.
Alarmingly, Laws also revealed in his post match press conference that his side failed to stick to the instructions given out to them, and gave away too many 'basic' mistakes.
'We were playing the type of football that is the opposite to what we are about,' Laws told the official SWFC website.
'We can play good football, we (usually) attack well and are creative but there was none of that today. In fact we got stuck in a rut and decided to go long. That's not the instructions I gave out today and I am bitterly disappointed with my lot.
'The team is making basic mistakes and that's something I can't stomach and I don't seem to be able to stop at the moment. The goals we are giving away are just ridiculous and Watford were walking through our defence like a hot knife through butter. It's not just about the back four; you defend from the front and players have to take responsibility.'
In contrast, Hornets boss Malky Mackay couldn't have been more delighted with his side's performance.
'The staff are absolutely delighted with the players' effort and application, they had the courage to go to these places [Middlebrough and Ipswich Town] and then come back home and put in a performance like that,' he told the official Watford website.
'We've had a lot travelling this week, we've got a small squad and had a couple of injuries but I think they've come out of the week great.'
