Angry Laws Transfer Lists Wood

Angry Laws Transfer Lists Wood

Wednesday defender Richard Wood has been slapped on the transfer market by boss Brian Laws today.

Laws is angry that Wood, one of the Owls best performers so far this season, is demanding too much money on a new contract, something the club can't afford.

And the Owls boss has acted quickly by putting the Wakefield-born centre-back on the transfer market as Wednesday look to cash in on the 24-year-old in the January transfer window.

Wood's current deal runs out next summer and Wednesday would prefer to sell Wood in January before losing him for nothing come the end of the season.

The contract despute has been long running, and Wood's future at the club looked in doubt after Coventry City raised their interest in him.

A former club captain, Wood could now go out on loan with view to a permanent move in January, and is unlikely to get his place back in the Owls starting eleven.

Dont blame him one single bit that he wants a bit more cash. He's been shafted as far as having the captaincy taken off of him and given to a useless waste of space.

He had the captaincy took off him beacause he asked for a transfer last season and has so far refused to sign a new contract. He is now trying to hold the club to ransom which can't be allowed to happen. Laws has done the right thing and listed him. No player is bigger than the club no matter how good he is.

bad news.... let's just hope laws brings in a replacement if/when wood leaves, rather than let purse continue to deteriorate the whole of the defence

He's just another greedy footballer who couldn't give a toss about the club who has nurtured his talent....good riddance.

According to official website he wants to be our highest paid player, which means he wants over 10k a week. Sorry but he's not good enough for that, so I agree that we have to get rid now. Who else forsees Wood going to lane if Kilgallon goes in January?

Should have given him a new contract in the summer, even if it did make him the club's highest earner. If we hadn't have signed Purse, we could have paid Wood that bit extra instead of wasting it on a useless piece of s***. Purse was run ragged on Friday night and I'm one Owl that would like to see someone else playing there. He will probably go to the Blunts in January and we will more than likely get in a Centre Midfielder that we don't need
