Ipswich Cool On Wood Move

Ipswich Town boss Roy Keane insists he hasn't spoken to Wednesday regarding a possible move for transfer-listed defender Richard Wood.

The former Manchester United man, who was a former team-mate of Owls boss Brian Laws at Nottingham Forest, made a last-gasp move for the defender at the end of the last transfer window.

His attempt, which is believed to have included striker Jon Stead in exchange, was unsuccessful, but Town are set to be one of a number of clubs interested in the Owls Academy product since he's been transfer listed.

Keane said: "If we think he can improve our squad, we`re looking at players all the time. But I`ve not spoken to Lawsy about any of his players recently."

Town, Coventry City and Sheffield United are believed to be three teams interested in Wood.

And bids for the out-of-contract centre-back, who was transfer listed after failing to agree a new contract at S6, are expected to come sooner rather than later.
