Under Strength Owls Lose At Newcastle

Sheffield Wednesday Under 18s failed to claim what would have been an impressive away result at Newcastle, following a narrow 2-1 defeat.

The game started brilliantly for the Owls, highly-rated James Cottingham drew first blood with a free-kick.

But the Owls, who were without Nick Wood, Max Wragg, Callum Harrison and Nathan Modest (on first team duty) were pegged back minutes later through Stephen Folan.

Newcastle scored a winner just before half-time, with midfielder Brad Inman rifling home from 25 yards.

Next up for the Owls is a promising looking Sunderland side. Kick off, this Saturday is 11 at Middlewood Road.
