Virus Hit Owls Told To Stay Away

Wednesday's virus-hit players have been told to stay away from their Middlewood training complex on Monday in a bid to stop the virus spreading.

A number of players including Darren Purse, Sean McAllister, Mark Beevers and Etienne Esajas are all thought to be infected with the virus after missing the 1-1 draw at Bristol City at the weekend.

And the club have ordered the first team to stay away from their Middlewood base to contain the virus, with players set to resume training on Tuesday.

A club spokesman told Sky Sports: 'Due to the situation late last week with several players showing symptoms of a viral infection ahead of the Bristol City match, the first team are not training together on Monday.

'This measure has been taken to prevent the possible further spread of infection and players are therefore working on their own fitness programmes ahead of returning to training on Tuesday.'

Tommy Miller is also thought to be infected, but played in the stalemate at Ashton Gate.

Wednesday will be hoping the move gives Brian Laws a healthier squad to choose from for this weekend's visit of Q.P.R.
