Notts County In For Owls' Wood

Big-spending League Two side Notts County are reported to have made an inquiry into Wednesday's transfer-listed centre-back Richard Wood.

The Owls Academy product was slapped on the transfer list by boss Brian Laws after failing to agree a new contract at Hillsborough.

Ipswich Town, Coventry City and Sheffield United are all thought to be interested in his services.

But Sven-Goran Eriksson's County are thought to be the latest club interested in Woody, according to the Sheffield Star, as they look to continue building their squad for a push up the Football League.

The Owls announced Wood was demanding too much money for a new contract at S6 before transfer listing their former captain.

But the Meadow Lane club shouldn't have such problems in giving Wood what he wants, wage wise, should he opt for a switch to County.

if he goes there it shows his lack of ambition and that he is in it just for the money... cant see it to be honest
heslip2000
same goes if he opts for coventry, ipswich or the pigs......
swfcjambo
well he'll be in league 1 next year whether he picks Notts County Ipswich or the pigs
wesp
I agree with Heslip - he goes to County then it just shows he's only thinking about money. Nothing at all to do with ambition.....

Richard woods a w@nk3r, hes a money grabbin whore, he used to be our captain, but we love him no more! OOOOHHHH
smiggyswfc
Smiggy ALL footballers are "money grabbing whores", please show me one that isnt !
Skeggy Owl
Skeggy Steve Bull stayed with Wolves all his career when he could have earned more elsewhere. Dirk Kuyt has set up his own charity to help those less fortunate. There are plenty of players who have shwn a bit more loyalty than Wood. Tudgay would have undoubtedly been paid more had he insisted on a move to Burnley. You are completely wrong to call all players money grabbers.
CLIFFANDJ
A Swede in for a turnip?
Auckland Owl
i agree cliffandj, there are plenty of honest players who put football, family, etc ahead of money. Cristiano Ronaldo and Nicolas Anelka for example ;-)
Norman
lol Norman.
CLIFFANDJ
So now Cliff&J thinks that all footballers are in it because the love the game and it has completely nothing to do with money. I think someone needs to come back down to the land of reality here !
Skeggy Owl
Skeggy once again you haven't actually read what I posted. But that is very much the norm for you. I actually said that not all of them are money grabbers...obviously some are but not all. If you are going to comment on my posts at least have the courtesy to read them properly!
CLIFFANDJ
What difference does it make, he is no longer part of the plan so he can go anywhere. What is he earning? £3k a week? If someone offered to at a minimum double your wages for doing exactly the same thing would you take the job? Of course you would. No disrespect to Wood but he isn't going to cut the mustard in the Premier league and he is probably realistic enough to know this so he should maximise his earnings now. Far better players have left before and better ones will go in future so why worry!
