Sky Blues' Wood Chase Over?

Coventry City could have called time on their chase for Owls' defender Richard Wood today after signing another defender on loan until January.

Sky Blues boss Chris Coleman has captured defender Leon Barnett on loan from Championship rivals West Brom until January.

Barnett has fallen down the pecking order at West Brom and will go straight into City's first team this weekend, with an opportunity for a permanent move likely in the January transfer window.

The move could see an end to Coventry's chase for Wood, despite interest in his services last season and the transfer-listing of the Owls Academy product.

Wednesday are thought to be prepared to let Wood go out on loan to a club until January with a permanent move likely in the new year.

But Coventry's latest move could see them out of the chase for the centre-back, leaving Ipswich Town, Sheffield United and Notts County left in the race according to reports.

Laugh if no one comes in for him, not now, not January, not in the Summer!! How much will he earn on the dole?
