Laws Wants Firm Wood Deal

Wednesday boss Brian Laws insists any loan deal taking Richard Wood away from the club would have to result in a permanent one come January.

The transfer-listed centre-back is expected to leave Hillsborough before the close of the loan transfer deadline, with Coventry City and Notts County leading the race for his signature.

But Laws has revealed that any club making a move for the 24-year-old on a loan deal will have to be certain they want to make his move permanent when the transfer window re-opens.

'There's no chance of us letting him out on loan with a view to someone looking at him,' Laws told the Sheffield Telegraph.

'We're talking about an established centre half in the Championship who people don't need to check out.'

Wood was used in the 2-1 defeat against Queens Park Rangers last weekend, but the club are keen to get a deal sorted for the Owls Academy product sooner rather than later.

Ipswich Town and Sheffield United have also been linked with his services.
