Sodje Joins Charlton From Owls

Wednesday striker Akpo Sodje has secured a loan deal to League 1 side Charlton Athletic in a bid to up his fitness levels.

Injury-plagued Sodje has moved to The Valley on a one-month loan deal and could go straight into the Addicks' squad should the paperwork be finalised in time.

It was only yesterday that we reported Owls boss Brian Laws wanted to send the 28-year-old on a loan deal to improve his fitness levels.

The former Port Vale man has made all his appearances for Wednesday from the substitutes bench this season.

And the move to Charlton could be just the one Sodje is looking for as he looks to get back to full fitness.

Sodje's brother, Sam, is also at the London club, as is former Owls striker Deon Burton.

Good to see but im pretty sure he'll just get injured again!!?!?

im furious, id rather have a half fit sodje up front rather than clarke, jeffers or varney. what worries me is that if it turns permanent, he was saying the same about simek going out on loan, he needs to get him back in the team as well, im starting to lose a lot of faith in brian laws.

If i owned my own business and i'd employed akpo 3 years ago, he'd would have been sacked by now, what's the point in having someone who very rarely comes in to work to do the things he's payed for, i love the bloke to bits, but like most other owls fans just get fed up of waiting for him to return to full fitness.

At the mo, how can you say that Sodje is better than Clarke? Varney is also more useful than Sodje at the moment. Ideal world, he gets fit and scores goals at Charlton, then comes back to us in form for the 'festive fixtures'.

we are that over run with strikers at the moment we can afford to let him go out on loan NOT.Mr Laws we all hope u know wot ya doing cos alot are loosing faith in you.Get the youngsters coming through and giv them a chance im sure they wud fight for their shirt.

Charlton have snapped up Akpo Sodje, brother of Addicks defender Sam, on loan from Sheffield Wednesday. The deal for the 28-year-old striker was completed on Saturday morning, and the forward is eligible to play against Milton Keynes Dons. The youngest of the 10-strong Sodje clan, he was born in Greenwich. And manager Phil Parkinson stressed the deal was with a view to a permanent move.
