Blades Refuse To Rule Out Wood Bid

Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell today refused to rule out making a bid for Wednesday's transfer-listed defender Richard Wood.

The Blades are thought to be one of a number of club's interested in the services of the 24-year-old after he failed to agree a new deal at Hillsborough.

And Blackwell today refused to rule out a move for the centre-back on BBC Radio Sheffield, although no official contact has been made between the two clubs.

Coventry City are still thought to be the fvaourites for his signature, while League 2 side Notts County are also in the running.

It wouldn't be the first time in recent seasons that a Wednesday player has made the switch to the 'dark side' of Sheffield.

Leigh Bromby, Derek Geary and Alan Quinn are all amongst the players to have done the same.

Not really bothered where he goes as long as they get rid quickly and we strengthen the team in other areas.
