Charlton Eye Permanent Sodje Switch

Charlton Athletic are keen on making Akpo Sodje's stay at The Valley a permanent one at the end of his one-month loan deal.

Owls boss Brian Laws sent injury-ravaged Sodje to the League 1 club on a one-month loan deal, in what was thought to be an ideal chance for the striker to gain some much-needed match fitness.

But it seems Charlton boss Phil Parkinson has other ideas, with a permanent switch on the cards should all parties come to an agreement in the January transfer window.

Parkinson said: 'His contract is up in the summer and it's a deal we could possibly make permanent in January if we like him and he likes us.'

Sodje's current deal at Hillsborough is up at the end of the season but Wednesday could well cash-in on the former Port Vale man.

That may be a good idea. It will free up some money to bring in someone. I did like Sodje but with the small size of our squad we need fit players.

I wouldn't have thought Sodje would be on that much, so it would hardly free up enough money to bring any quality in....

i really feel for this guy promised so much but injury ruined his wednesday career shame he could have been a top striker.

And no doubt he will go on to be a top scorer at charlton or where ever he ends up just like our past forwards Holt for example.

Strange decision for me this. Can't work out what Laws must be thinking?! Sodje is our best striker when fit, yes I know he isnt fit but our other strikers are hardly prolific! What better place to get fit than at SWFC?!. Strange one this Mr Laws, I hope you have a decent striker in line to replace him and not some idiotic half wit like some of the other tosh you have signed... Cough, Francis cough Jeffers...
