Owls Accept Sky Blues' Wood Bid

Wednesday are today reported as accepting a bid, believed to be around the 500k mark, for transfer-listed defender Richard Wood, with the favourites for his signature being Coventry City.

Reports on BBC Radio Sheffield are claiming the Owls have accepted an offer from a Championship club today and it's believed Chris Coleman's Coventry have been permission to talk to the defender.

Any move would be a loan deal with a view to a permanent transfer in January.

City have always been favourites to bag the centre-back, who's out of contract at the end of the current season, but interest has also come from Notts County, Ipswich Town and Sheffield United.

It's also been reported that South Yorkshire rivals Barnsley have made an enquiry into Wood, who lives in Barnsley.

Selling Wood for 500k could prove a good bit of a business for the Owls, who would lose their former Academy product for nothing in the summer after he failed to pen a new deal.

It's believed the 24-year-old could depart before this weekend's clash at Ipswich Town.

Keep checking Vital Wednesday for all the latest updates on the sale of Wood.
