Wood Seals Coventry Switch

Want-away Wednesday defender Richard Wood has finally completed his move to Championship rivals Coventry City on a loan with a view to a permanent signing.

The 24-year-old, who was transfer-listed by the Owls after failing to agree a new contract at S6, has been at the Ricoh Arena for discussions this week and will go straight into City's squad for their weekend clash with Crystal Palace.

The move will be an initial loan deal until January, with the former Owls Academy product expected to pen a three-year contract with the club when the transfer window opens.

The Sky Blues have always led the race for his signature, although Notts County, Ipswich Town and Sheffield United were also thought to be interested in his services.

The fee for the defender come January is yet unknown, but said to be around the 500k mark.

We've got a bigger stadium, bigger fan base, more potential. If money is the only reason then its a pretty sad reflection of a chapionship player with no ambition except to have slightly more money than the other guys in the league. Bye Richard

have a listen to yourselves. chill out who cares? he has played most of the season and we've let a ton of goals in, that isn't all Purses' fault. wood gets hammered for pace everytime and he isn't that strong as every big centreforward out muscles him. he hasn't improved in the last few years from the high promise he showed as young player so he must have peaked. we won't miss him the only downside is we might have got more for him in the summer

in the summer just gone

If you are gonna leave for more money at least go to a city where you can enjoy you rnew found wealth but Coventry, there's funk all there!?!? I have no confidence in any of CB's to be honest so one less to worry about it in my opinion!

Ambition maybe? Perhaps he believes like I do that wednesday while we look secure (ish) in the championship that we aren't going to be challenging the playoffs any time soon..
