'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Owls Travel To USA For Pre-Season

The Owls will travel to the good old USA this pre-season to take part in the United Soccer Leagues First Division All-Star game in North Carolina.

Wednesday will travel to Cary, North Carolina, for the match on Wednesday July 19 at SAS Soccer Park. The club are also likely to play a number of other teams from the East coast of America.

Steven Thompson, USL Director of Pro League Operations, said: “We are excited about the return of the USL First Division All Star game. The level of talent and stars in the USL First Division has grown tremendously since 1999 and the return of a showcase event like this is overdue.”

One Wednesday player who is sure to be pleased by the news is right-back Frankie Simek - who is pushing for a place in the US national side. Simek has featured 42 times for Wednesday this season, scoring one vital goal in the 1-0 away victory at Millwall.

More details of the trip will be added to Vital Sheffield Wednesday once we know more!

I hope the club sorts something out for this, as it would probably work out a lot cheaper than doing it yourself. I wouldn't hold your breathe though, I got the info for this from an american site - nothing on the SWFC site at all!
