Owls Chase Cardiff's Feeney

Owls Chase Cardiff's Feeney

Cardiff City's out-of-favour Northern Ireland striker Warren Feeney has emerged as the likely candidate to sign for the Owls on loan this week.

Wednesday boss Brian Laws had planned to bolster his squad with a loan striker from a Premier League club before tomorrow's loan transfer deadline.

But with the deal dead in the water, Northern Irishman Feeney looks set to fill the void with a loan move to Hillsborough in the next 48 hours.

The 28-year-old former Leeds United and Luton Town man has struggled to make any impact since his move to Wales in 2006 and has made just two appearances from the substitutes bench this term.

He was loaned out to SPL side Dundee United last season and had a return of six goals from 18 starts.

The premier league striker we were after is one of Arsenal's youngsters but Wegner said no to the move beacuse he wants to play him in the Carling cup. Laws is supposed to be in talks with Derby to sign Luke Varney permanently in January and Feeney now is being linked with the club...neither bits of gossip have exactly got me salivating with excitement.

Same here Cliff. Feeney is no better than what we currently have. Its a sad state of affairs at the min, im not confident about the future at all.

If this is true then I just moved from the "maybe BL has taken us as far as he can" camp to the "Laws out now" school of thought. Idiotic idea!

If this is really the best that BL can do then he might as well bring back Sodje, keep Jeffers in the frame and save the money. I don't see how Feeney can be seen as progress.

Ok this is only a rumour but Laws has confirmed he's entering into talks with Derby for Varney (a forward who has scored 2 goals for as I think). That and, according to the fans forum, the noises he is making about the return of Darren Purse to the side ("he had an awful September", his August wasn't exactly sparkling either Brian). It's confirmed. I've lost my faith in Brian Laws leadership.
