Owls Chase Cardiff's Feeney

Cardiff City's out-of-favour Northern Ireland striker Warren Feeney has emerged as the likely candidate to sign for the Owls on loan this week.

Wednesday boss Brian Laws had planned to bolster his squad with a loan striker from a Premier League club before tomorrow's loan transfer deadline.

But with the deal dead in the water, Northern Irishman Feeney looks set to fill the void with a loan move to Hillsborough in the next 48 hours.

The 28-year-old former Leeds United and Luton Town man has struggled to make any impact since his move to Wales in 2006 and has made just two appearances from the substitutes bench this term.

He was loaned out to SPL side Dundee United last season and had a return of six goals from 18 starts.

The premier league striker we were after is one of Arsenal's youngsters but Wegner said no to the move beacuse he wants to play him in the Carling cup. Laws is supposed to be in talks with Derby to sign Luke Varney permanently in January and Feeney now is being linked with the club...neither bits of gossip have exactly got me salivating with excitement.
CLIFFANDJ
Same here Cliff. Feeney is no better than what we currently have. Its a sad state of affairs at the min, im not confident about the future at all.
Danigol_10_SWFC
If this is true then I just moved from the "maybe BL has taken us as far as he can" camp to the "Laws out now" school of thought. Idiotic idea!
robc
if were going for him we might as well go back in for steve mclean at least we know he can score, god were useless
fozzyp
If this is really the best that BL can do then he might as well bring back Sodje, keep Jeffers in the frame and save the money. I don't see how Feeney can be seen as progress.
baldowl
Ok this is only a rumour but Laws has confirmed he's entering into talks with Derby for Varney (a forward who has scored 2 goals for as I think). That and, according to the fans forum, the noises he is making about the return of Darren Purse to the side ("he had an awful September", his August wasn't exactly sparkling either Brian). It's confirmed. I've lost my faith in Brian Laws leadership.
robc
Bad move BL.... WHAT THE BLOODY HELL ARE YOU THINKING??
US Owl
that should have read for us......sorry about that
robc
if warren feeney is the best you can do brian then dont even bother-just resign and do us all a favour!!!
supersibon
He will be looking at this lad on the say so of "captain not so fantastic". Whats up hasnt BL got a mind of his own......wait a minute !!!!!!!
Skeggy owl
ive been feeling it for a while now and serious believe the best thing BL can do is step down. alot of fans have lost alot of faith in him and players must do. players like EE, how can he not play him??? JJ right wing EE left wing tudgay and jeffers upfront is the best front 4 we can do at the minute. he has to start playing this
smiggyswfc
I totally agree. EE must be wondering if there is any point in staying at the end of the season when his contract ends if he gets any interest from elsewhere. I think smiggy's team selection is more or less the obvious choice for most fans......but not to brian? Anyway, I'm sure he has his own reasons....and for now backing the return of our of club captain Darren Purse and his great leadership skills. If he gets back in the team the only place he will lead us is back to league 1!
baldowl
Yeah I also cant understand why EE doesnt get many games. Just about every owls fan i speak to say the same as smiggy, EE on left and Johnson on right it just seems like logical team selection.
owlswfc
but where would i put gray is what he'd think-for me gray is a left back and hes not goin to play him instead of spurr. we shud ave played 2 wingers since the start. now im reading hes tryin to get varney permanent-please dont waste money-let his loan run out then let him go back to derby and get someone else in!!!!
supersibon
I agree with baldowl. Save the cash and make the most of sodje and jeffers (both of them will want to prove a point). A few years ago we'd get premier league fringe players, now all we can get are championship fringe players. Not good
Norman
This is a complete an utter joke. I am sorry but Jeffers should be in the team whatever you think or say hes better than what is being linked with the club at the moment. And Sodje won't come back either he will want to stay in London I imagine and Charlton will only have to pay a small fee to get him. Yes I am starting to think Laws has had his time and no havent got a clue who id appoint either. And Lee Strafford has alot to answer for, takeover new signings blaaah blaaah hes full of publicity stunts..and little else apart from blaming fans for not buying season tickets and thats why we cant sign anyone...hello why should we pay those prices for awful football and lies. The whole thing is driving me mad! A little word of Priase for Lewis Buxton hes a much beter centre Back than full back thats down to Laws aswell playing him out position when Simek was waiting to play. BL must be at a different training ground in the week to the one we seem to imagine and see. We are a laughing stock.

If Laws buys Varney and shoehorns Purse back into the side then he is in big trouble. I think almost every owl knows neither are up to the job. Thing is i don't think laws can see this. It's amazing how quickly things have gone wrong for him, but he has brought it on himself. I agree we have to stick with Sodje and Jeffers and make use of EE. It seems obvious to me.
