Owls Complete Feeney Deal

Wednesday boss Brian Laws has bolstered his squad by securing the services of Cardiff City forward Warren Feeney on a one-month loan deal.

Laws has been frantically searching for more attacking options before the transfer deadline this afternoon, with the Northern Irish international arriving in time.

The former Leeds United and Luton man will go straight into the squad to face West Brom on Saturday and is available for selection until Monday, December 28.

Laws told the official SWFC website: 'I am really pleased Dave Jones has allowed Warren to join us on loan because he's an attack-minded player with a lot to offer in the final third and he will give us a boost going into the festive fixtures.'

Laws has also revealed that he's hoping to secure another loan signing before 5pm today, with Stoke City's Tom Soares the likely candidate.

bad move, seems if he cant get who he wants which he never can, he'll buy any old crap

I am new to the forum but I have been viewing the comments and news for some time. I have seen a lot and read a lot of peoples comments and unlike some on the site I am a fan of laws however this latest loanee has angered me slightly. I know we have very little money and we are struggling to pay any sort of decent wage however I would rather hang on to to the small amount of money we do have for January window than waste it on someone who has not played first team football in a while and is not someone who is renowned for putting the ball in the net. Scottish football does not count. I think laws has panic loaned and this will count against him with the wednesday fans. I accept we will not be getting in the play offs this year but I would like a dignified mid table finish. I fear its all about the relagation battle for the rest of the season I am gutted to say. where do we go from here???????

Well said Nick
robc
Sorry Owls, can't see this being a great signing for you. I really expected you to push on after a strong end to last season, a top-10 finish. However, Feeney is an unproven workhorse but certainly not a natural finisher. He did do well on loan with Swansea, but don't expect an answer to goalscoring woes!
bluebirdshroom
We don't mate.
robc
Surely this guy can't be any better than what we have got already and in terms of match fitness no fitter than Sodje? Still, if he scores a hat trick on Saturday then we will all think Laws is a genius!
CLIFFANDJ
How does it go from Premier League striker to average Championship striker TWICE?! Laughable.
Danigol_10_SWFC
We were after premiership but once again have ended up with premier****.
Radon Barrier
I've never been **** out before. Must have misspelled ship with something very close. Why does Laws think if a player is not good enough for Cardiff or Derby he is ok for us. I'm not happy. Expect more of these ******** before the season is out.
Radon Barrier
Appalling ******** language Radon. Shame on you.
Danigol_10_SWFC
Anyone know whats happening with the Soares Loan deal? is it dead or just a rumour?
nick_swfc123
I think its a really good signing, I can see us being at the top of the league by the end of the christmas period !

Methinks a little sarcasm has crept into your posts Bro!!
US Owl
This is baffelling, you send out a striker who knows the players and you know he can score because he needs match fitness, and you get in a player that cardiff are offloading because hes not match fit and cant get in the squad and is basically worse than sodje. Is this a sign that sodje isnt coming back?
trustout
sodje says that he wants to stay at charlton however i would guess that thats because his brother is there. He also said that he wouldnt be upset if he came back to us when his loan finishes.
tomawest
we were linked with campbell as well, to be honest i would rather have feeney than cambpell because i know for certain that campbell is terrible from what i have seen. he cannot get in the mid tabled leicester side whereas weve got one of the front runners strikers instead. It all means nothing though because i think that they both are poor players for this level
tomawest
Feeney may have been on Cardiff's books Toma but they'd never have called him a striker. He played about three times for Cardiff before being consigned to the reserves and loan spells. He brings nothing new to Wednesday, non-scoring forwards are something we're not exactly short of. His acquisition, and that of Soares (who I won't comment on as I know nothing of him as a player) smack of panic and desperation. Clearly Brian Laws has lost faith in his team, have his team lost faith in Brian Laws. I for one have, any doubt has gone, so should Brian.
robc
Lets give him a chance before we start to slag off shall we! He's only here for a month, 6/7 games.
will it ever happen
we will see but i'm with Robc BL has lost it big time
HorburyOwl
he's just just playing with the hand he is dealt. obviously he'd love to not have had to sell brunt, whelan, bougherra, maclean etc. he had to sell though, his hand was forced, as it is now. lets give them a chance first, feeney was a decent player at one bit before he lost his way a bit. at least he will have something to prove.
ozzietheowl
Didn't KPS sell Majid?
robc
yea but ozzie KPS had no money and managed to bring those players in BL has got nowhere near that standard with his signings. KPS got simek, whelan, brunt, bougherra, maclean, tudgay and a few more (JP) bl has no knowledge in the market
smiggyswfc
Where did I put my map of the league one grounds. Looks like I may need it again next season..............
Handsworth Owl
Did it ever occur to anyone that he might simply have brought Feeney in as cover over the busy Christmas Period? Sodje is away at Charlton gaining match fitness (which he wouldn't have got sat on the bench at Hillsborough) and Feeney is simply to keep the numbers up in case we get injuries? I think he's unlikely to start ahead of our current strikers so it's a fairly sensible decision under the circumstances.
SouthamptonOwl
Southamptonowl it's a waste of time talking to some of these lot, they don't like B L no matter what he tries to do, they just keep harping on about P S and what a great manager he was, well get over it he's no longer the manager of S.W.F.C. thank god, just support the man in charge now, give him a break it's not his fault he has no money for players. UTO!!
ecco owl
Ecco you should get over the fact that BL has done nothing & never will overrated tactical inept and apart from grant signed no one of any class look who PS signed m8 I love my club & it pains me to slag the boss but he's not up to the job simple. fact!
HorburyOwl
didnt turner sign brunt and whelan?
ozzietheowl
oz we'v had that many managers i have lost track m8
HorburyOwl
Done nothing and never will Horbury, you've got a short memory, first Wednesday manager to do the double over pigs for 95 years.
ecco owl
Yes your right ozzietheowl Chris Turner did sign Brunt & Whelan, something else Horbury accidentaly forgot, just hope you remember where Hillborough is and what colours we play in Horbury.
ecco owl
Absolutely right on the signings made by Turner, CT certainly provided the bricks and mortar for KPS to turn into a team and provide us (however fortuitously) with one great day in Cardiff. Unfortunately KPS then lost the plot and it was a good thing he went when he did. That doesn't stop me liking the man. Then came BL, who's record would not look so good were it not for his success against our neighbours, who now looks as though he has lost the plot and may have to follow KPS to Swindon, Scunthorpe or some other Godforsaken place. For me the match against the Blunts isn't the be all and end all of football. I'd rather we were less parochial in our outlook and a little more ambitious. Believe it or not I'd swap a victory over Utd for promotion. As it is, victory over the blunts is looking like our only hope for this season. It's just a question but would so many fans be doubting BL if we'd won at Bramal Lane? How far is his reputation built upon beating our neighbours?
robc
ecco if you’re so blinkered that beating the pig's is all that bothers you then you learn about football mate when is the last time we finished above them that’s thing mate how finishes highest in the table not us & pain me say it wake up we have done nothing under laws as not remembering things I have been going to that ground for 40 yrs mate & my father in law went through the ranks their so thanks for that mate you’ve been a right laugh.
