Laws Gets Backing - From Blackwell

Wednesday boss Brian Laws has been under-fire from Wednesdayites this week, but one man to offer his backing is Blades boss Kevin Blackwell.

Despite being rivals, Blackwell knows all too well the pressures of being a manager in Sheffield - Unitedites were calling for his head earlier in the season, and some still are.

And despite the Owls' recent poor run of form in the Championship, Blackwell, who has been on the wrong end of Steel City derby defeats more times than not as manager, insists Laws is still a good manager.

'I have a lot of sympathy for Brian,' he told the Yorkshire Post.

'Every manager goes through that sort of period but, if you have been doing a job well, you don't become a bad manager overnight.'

He added: 'I know what he is going through, I am in the same city.

'At a time when people are looking at weekend sport to get them out of the doldrums, I think they are becoming over critical. He is proven, he is big enough, strong enough, and I am sure he will be okay.'
