Sodje Extends Charlton Stay

Sodje Extends Charlton Stay

Wednesday striker Akpo Sodje has extended his loan deal with Charlton Athletic for a further month - fuelling speculation he's set to stay permanently.

The former Port Vale man has already enjoyed one month with the League 1 high-fliers, scoring two goals despite only making appearances from the bench.

Sodje went to The Valley initially on a one-month deal, but that's been extended to two, and he'll now stay at the club until Saturday, January 9.

Charlton could then try and make the move permanent, with Sodje seemingly down the pecking order at S6 and having already stated his desire to stay in London.

This just beggars belief! The only "Owl" who's scoring right now and he's allowed to stay at Charlton for another month?

I cannot get my head around the fact that we are struggling for somebody that knows how to score a goal and they go and extend his loan. Is there really any ambition at all at Hillsborough because as far as I am concerned they dont seem bothered at the way things are going.

This can only mean that BL has faith in the strikers that we have got that don't score goals or leave the bench at their club to come and sit on the bench at ours. I know Sodje hasn't exactly been on fire since coming back from injury but he wasn't even given a decent chance and I still think he is the only out and out striker we have at the club. He can probably see he has more chance of being in the championship next year if he stays with Charlton.

The question isn't whether or not we should sack Laws. The question is can we afford to sack him and appoint Darren Ferguson. Laws record is awful. I don't count his first half season because that was not his team. The following season was mainly his team ( a bunch of record breakers at the start of the season) and now he truly has put his stamp on it. He bought Purse and took the captaincy of Woods. He has let Sodge go on loan and brought in Varney. He has let players like Wade Small go and brought in Tommy Miller. Other players he has used include Graham Kavanagh. Enough said. We need one of the following as Manager. 1. Darren Ferguson 2. Sean Mcauley/ Howard Wilkinson 3. Neil Warnock 4. Sturrock. With the rubbish we have at the minute we might be better off with Wilkinson and playing kick and run like back in '83.

So Brian Laws is safe in the knowledge he's not going to get the sack because we cant afford to sack him, that is utter b0ll0cks. We have got to stop using the "ah but weve got no money" chestnut because it is getting really boring. Lee Strafford has to do something, like grow a big pair, before it is too late. There will be a lot of people sat there saying "Youre being a bit over dramatic arent you", but I dont think I am and our current form and position in the league dont lie either. And what amazes me most is the ones that are going to be moaning the loudest next season when we have dropped down a league are the ones that are supporting Laws now. As for appointing Darren Fergusson, thanks but no thanks, not experienced enough in digging teams out of the 5h1t. And how you can suggest a manager that is the supporter of the Blades is beyond me. No thanks to Howard Wilkinson either because he is the one that said to Lee Strafford "Laws is the man for the job", even though we can clearly see that he isnt.

Skeggy - it'll come in handy having a Blade as a manager when we eventually merge with them anyway.

Never going to happen, I cant get my head round the Sodje thing but also can not think of anyone else to replace BL or who would want to come with such an offer (we cant afford to pay you much or give you any money for players but would you like the job)

So we were told that we had sent Sodje to Charlton just to get match fit this now looks like it may well have been a "lie". I just feel let down by the club at the moment....

Some say Laws must go,others say Strafford must go..I say its the Debt that must go . Laws and Strafford in my veiw are as good as any that is out there it is the club debt that keeps holding us back. Lets just write off the next two seasons and go into administration and start a fresh. Before you all jump up in arms just take a very close look at the teams that have done this it`s not done them any harm .
