Owls Secure Soares Loan Extension

Wednesday are set to secure the loan services of Tom Soares for a second month from Premier League side Stoke City.

The former Crystal Palace man was brought in at the start of December to help Wednesday battle off the threat of relegation in the Championship - but started just one game.

But it seems that start, in the 2-2 stalemate against Newcastle United on Boxing Day, seems to have been enough for caretaker boss Sean McAuley to extend his deal at S6 for another month.

And it could mean Soares is available to be selected against former club Palace in tomorrow's FA Cup third round clash at Hillsborough.

'We have extended Tom Soares' loan agreement and that will cover Saturday's match in the FA Cup so we are really pleased,' McAuley told the official SWFC website.

'It's good because the way he played in our last game showed that he would be a valuable addition to our squad and he is pleased to come back so it suits everybody.'

Soares will be eligible for selection for Wednesday until Monday, January 25.
