Sir Alex Helps Darren Pick PNE
New Preston North End boss Darren Ferguson has revealed his father, Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, helped him choose Deepdale over Hillsborough.
The former Peterborough United boss was unveiled as PNE boss this week following the sacking of Alan Irvine recently.
And after accepting the post, Ferguson has revealed that he had talks with Owls officials over the vacant manager's position at S6 before taking the role across the Penninnes.
In an interview on the official PNE website, Ferguson said: 'I spoke to my dad and we both came to the agreement that this was the right job for me.'
He continued: 'I spoke to him about the jobs that were there and we both agreed that Preston was the right job.'
It's thought that uncertainties over investment at S6 caused Ferguson to choose the Deepdale role over the vacant post at Hillsborough.
