Have Your Say On Irvine Appointment

Alan Irvine has been appointed as Wednesday manager today, but what do YOU think about the appointment?

Judging by the forum talk so far, it's been met with mixed reviews, but we'll all be 100 per cent behind him when he leads the Owls out for the first time against Barnsley next weekend.

Wednesdayites - we're not an easy bunch to please, are we?

For it or against it, have your say on the appointment of Irvine on Vital Wednesday by voting in the poll on the main page, or on the Vital forums.

against it? who was it that we were expecting to get the job then? Fergie? Wenger? It's a great appointment for the club, he's got loads of experience under a top prem manager and is proven in our division, he's also at the stage in his career when he is hungry for success, I just hope he realises what he's let himself in for!

Probably one of the better options in my opinion, has done well at this level and has good experience from Everton and Newcastle. Things surely can't get any worse for us at the moment and i truely believe what Mr Irvine says when he calls us 'a sleeping giant that needs to wake up', i keep thinking back to the Waddle and Hirst days and how we were pretty awesome at times!!

Definitely the best out of the realistic options on the table.

I have it on good authority that his first signing will be Gary McSheffrey on loan for the rest of the season.

Why isnt he been given any of the money from the sale of Richard Wood, i thought Strafford told Laws he could spend any money generated from transfers. Why dont this apply to Irvine?

I'm happy with this. He likes his teams to play football but if results are needed like now he will have them getting stuck in. Remember when Preston got hammered off the field in the first half at Hillsborough but he changed it round at half time and Preston were a different team 2nd half, something we've not been capable off recently.
