Charlton Keen On Sodje Deal

Charlton Athletic are in talks with Wednesday about the future of striker Akpo Sodje, who returns to Hillsborough this week following a loan deal at the London club.

Sodje spent two months at the League 1 club after former Owls boss Brian Laws sent the striker out on loan to gain some much-needed match fitness.

But the former Port Vale man is keen to make a move to the Addicks permanent, and Charlton are also keen on adding the striker to their squad on a permanent basis.

Sean McAuley, who in temporary charge of Wednesday before Alan Irvine's appointment, has already stated that Sodje would only be allowed to leave on a permanent deal, with Wednesday refusing a further loan extension.

Charlton boss Phil Parkinson told Yahoo! Sport: 'He (Sodje) hasn't played much over the last 12 months, but we're talking to Wednesday and we'll see if that progresses over the next few days.'

Sodje's three-year deal with the Owls comes to an end this summer, and Wednesday could be looking to cash in on the striker before he's allowed to leave S6 for nothing at the end of the season.
