Owls Show McNaughton Interest

Owls boss Paul Sturrock is interested in bringing highly-rated Aberdeen defender Kevin McNaughton to Hillsborough according to reports today.

The Scot, who has spent 10 years with the Dons, played his final game in the red shirt in the 2-2 draw with Celtic and is now seeking to further his career south of the border.

The 23-year old said: 'My last game was emotional. I've been associated with the club since I was 13. I'm looking forward to a new challenge and hopefully I can bring on my game and push back into the Scotland set-up.'

McNaughton recieved his first call-up for the Scotland national during the 2001-2002 season - the same year he picked up the SPL young player of the year award.

Wednesday will have strong competition for his signature though with a number of other Championship clubs showing interest in the Scotsman.

Paul Sturrock has expressed his desire to add five new players to the Wednesday squad ahead of the new season. With left-back Peter Gilbert out until christmas and Drissa Diallo recently released, McNaughton could be just the man to bolster the Owls defence.
