Owls Fans Give Irvine Backing

Owls Fans Give Irvine Backing

Vital Sheffield Wednesday users have given new boss Alan Irvine their backing in the latest website poll.

Wednesdayites were asked if they were happy with the appointment of the former Preston North End boss as manager last week.

And a huge majority of 76 per cent of supporters gave their full backing to Irvine, the man charged with the task of lifting Wednesday out of their position in the Championship relegation zone.

The appointment, following Brian Laws' departure from Hillsborough, was always going to be an important one by chairman Lee Strafford - his first managerial appointment since taking charge at S6.

Some big names, and some not-so big names were put in the frame for the job.

But Irvine was the man chosen for the job, and the majority of Owls fans seem to have taken to him.

Just five per cent said Irvine wasn't the right man for the job, while 19 per cent were undecided, with Irvine yet to take charge of his first game.

One thing's for sure - 100 per cent of Wednesdayites in Barnsley's away end on Saturday will be behind Irvine and his new coaching staff as the Owls look for three crucial points at Oakwell.
