BREAKING: Laws Confirmed As Clarets Boss

Former Wednesday manager Brian Laws has been confirmed as the new manager at Premier League side Burnley today.

Laws, who departed Hillsborough almost a month ago, beat competition from Doncaster Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll to take the top-flight challenge at Turf Moor.

The former Clarets defender has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the club, who saw former boss Owen Coyle leave for Bolton Wanderers last week.

The appointment will come as a surprise for many football fans - Wednesdayites and Burnley fans alike.

But the Clarets are keen admirers of the former Scunthorpe United boss, having come in for Laws during his time at Hillsborough before appointing Owen Coyle.

Russ Wilcox will follow Laws to Turf Moor as his assistant manager.

Good luck Brian.

I honestly cant understand this. I've nothing against Brian, he's a decent guy, but lets face it, bloody clueless.
Danigol_10_SWFC
Good Luck Brian. Hope it works out for you !!
stevetheowl
Bit harsh Danigol. I wouldn't say Brian was clueless - he did a decent job with some great results (derby double for one!) for us with no budget and forced to sell his best players. I hope he does really well with Burnley
SuperOwls
I wish him all the best but I have to say that I think Burnley are mad.
baldowl
Unbelieveable. I think they have made a big mistake but who knows - with a better team and more money it might work out? Its easy to see how he got the job - he is such a likeable bloke. Also its impossible to wish him anything other than the best. Good Luck.

"a better team with more money"? I dont know where that comes from because the reason Owen Coyle gave for him leaving was that the board at Burnley told him that there wasnt any money available for him to bring any players in !
skeggy Owl
not sure why they have chosen brian. he is a nice guy but dont he is good enough at premiership level
Wednesdayforlife
can we interest you in buying a few players brian
Handsworth Owl
At least we will get to see how good a manger he can be with a bit of money to spend. I hope he does well.
CLIFFANDJ
I bet he won't be trying to sign Jeffers though lol.
CLIFFANDJ
laws will decend on swillsborough in the next few weeks for sure. kiss goodbye to grant, spurr, beevers and tudgay...you won't be saying he's a nice guy at the end of January......he would love to get one over your sorry state of a club and make strap-on look like a complete fool he is!! UTB!!
bladesforlife1889
Can't believe I'm going to say this But ! I actually agree with pfl, he will definitely come in for some of those players. He can take Spurr & Tudgay for me, Heard on the grape vine Grant unsurprisingly has got clubs sniffing & doesn't know if he will be here at the end of the window. Top bloke Brian think he lost the dressing room in the end. All the best for the new job.
duds
If he lost the dressing room lets hope those same players wont want to follow him then! Although the way their playing at the minute I wouldnt be arsed! Except for Grant who probably gets us more points than our midfield and forwards put together!
Owls That!
Skeggy, they have more points from less games, in a higher division so yes I think they are a better team.
