Owls Boss Dismisses Sale Rumours
Wednesday boss Alan Irvine has dismissed rumours that he has to sell some of his current Owls squad in the January transfer window.
Rumours circulating this week have hinted that the new Owls boss may have to sell some key players in order to balance the books at Hillsborough.
Goalkeeper Lee Grant is one name that's been linked with a move to the Premier League with Burnley following Brian Laws' appointment at Turf Moor yesterday.
But, although admitting he'll have to trim his squad in order to bring new faces to the club, Irvine insists there's ' no pressure' on him to sell any of the current squad.
He told the official SWFC website: 'There is no pressure on me to sell because we have no offers at the moment. But obviously, if any offers come in that are regarded as too good to turn down, then that pressure might come on me.
'I certainly can't think about bringing any players in without players going out. But I came here thinking that I would work the squad that was here and hopefully we will get good results with that squad.
'I believe it's a good enough squad to win games but only with a lot of hard work.'
Mark Beevers and Marcus Tudgay have also been linked with moves away from the club in the media this week - both to Laws' Burnley.
But his plans are to keep the current squad in tact and work with them to haul the Owls out of the Championship bottom three - starting at local rivals Barnsley this weekend.
