'If It's Football, It's Vital'

JJ's Glass Is Definitely Half Full

Owls' wing wizard Jermaine Johnson was understandably upbeat following Wednesday's 2-1 win over Barnsley at the weekend - but maybe a little bit too much.

The jet-heeled Jamaican international bagged the second and decisive goal in the Owls' crucial victory at Oakwell - Alan Irvine's first game in charge.

The three points could well provide the foundations for Wednesday's escape route from the Championship relegation places this season.

But for Johnson, he won't be stopping at just survival this season - insisting his aims for this season go as far as the play-offs.

Quite a statement.

Maybe the former Bradford City man was interviewed immediately after the confidence-boosting Wednesday win, which was the first for the Owls in 13 matches.

He told The Mirror: 'I think that we all believe in ourselves now and that we can come out of the relegation zone and fight for the play-offs. That's my aim.'

It's good to see JJ, and hopefully the rest of the squad, having the confidence and belief again.

Maybe that's down to the arrival of Irvine, with a little bit of help from caretaker boss Sean McAuley, too.

But maybe focus on just staying in the division for now eh? Leave the play-offs until next season - it's Irvine's way!

Haha JJ, steady on son! Have to say I thought he was absolutely outstanding on saturday, put jeffers and clarke to shame with his workrate and was unlucky he didn't grab another to be honest.

i agree dont need to get carried away! i think he plays better upfront than on the wing mainly as his crossing is poor. keep it up JJ!
