Stoke Move In On Grant

Stoke City are the latest Premier League club to be linked with a move for Wednesday stopper Lee Grant in the January transfer window.

Former Owls boss Brian Laws and his Burnley side have already been linked with a swoop for the former England under-21 international.

But now Tony Pulis is reported to be chasing Grant for a fee believed to be around £2 million.

City could well use midfielder Tom Soares, currently on loan at Hillsborough, as part of any deal to take the 'keeper to the Britannia Stadium, should the reports prove to be true.

Grant has already pledged his future to the Owls following the initial interest from Turf Moor.

But a sizeable fee could tempt Wednesday to sell and allow new boss Alan Irvine bolster his squad with the fee.

just in case he goes we should have a look at nicky wever hes on a free and hes not on big money i might be wrong but i think hes a wednesday fan plus AI would still have the money from the grant sale to bring in 1 or 2 more BUT ITS NEVER THAT EASY FOR US...

best keeper outside the prem, dont want to lose him but 2m+ would be hard to turn down, could then strenghen in other areas.

I'm not too worried, it's all rumours at the moment and surely he's worth at least 3 million.

if we sell grant we can forget the play offs this year.

sorry BARRIER but i think the playoffs are out of our reach sorry or are you just kidding ..sorry smiggy didnt know you said it already but with him being a fan he might have a change of hart if we showed an intrest if his boyhood club came calling but we would have to act now before boro offer him something cause if we lose grant at the end of jan we wouldnt have the money to buy someone as good we would only get a loan keeper that cant get in some were else or some kid

As a keeper myself I wouldn't be particularly intersted in Weaver, don't think he commands his area anywhere near as well as Granty, he's a good shot stopper but no better than Grant and his decision making is very dodgy. I think he'd be a step backwards, but then again I think Grany could walk into any team from Newcastle down. Any less than £3m would be a robbery, although I do think he's better than Sorensen.

thus ends this speculation----Sky Sports News understands Stoke and Portsmouth are once again discussing a possible loan move for David James. The Potters were hopeful of bringing in the England international goalkeeper earlier this month but later pulled out of a deal. It emerged they were unhappy at being asked to pay all of James' wages, with Pompey keen to ease their financial concerns. However, the switch could now be back on as the two clubs have decided to resume talks. "Its reared it's head again, but we'll have to wait and see what comes of it," Pulis told the Stoke Sentinel. Stoke are looking to add James to their squad amid speculation about the future of their current No.1 Thomas Sorensen. The 39-year-old James has struggled with injuries this season and not playing regularly for the remainder of the campaign could damage his chances of going to the World Cup.

1.5mill plus soares and id let him go, get turner for prob 500k then 1 mill to burn!! just a thought.

Lets hope the sky sport news is right, although i can see other teams coming in for him, especially around the deadline. If he does go lets just hope we don't end up in our previous situation before Grant, where we were constantly relying on loan goalkeepers!

£2 million and i'd let him go, then Alan Irvine can raid his old club and get Iain Turner from Everton ?

2 mill not enough a good keeper is key and there is no way we can get anyone half as good as grant in. we would be playing dirty leeds this season if not for him. Grant priceless for everything else there is mastercard! or take over lol.
