Owls Wait On Soares Fate

Wednesday are waiting for a response from Premier League side Stoke city about the possibility of extending midfielder Tom Soares' loan stay at Hillsborough.

Soares' loan stint at S6 came to an end following the 2-1 victory over Peterborough United at Hillsborough on Saturday and he's due to return to Stoke this week.

But Owls boss Alan Irvine is keen to keep the former Crystal Palace man with the club, wage permitting.

Irvine has already been in contact with City about extending the deal, but it all rests on how much Stoke are asking for in wages.

And the Owls boss will wait for a response from boss Tony Pulis at the start of the week to see if he's been successful in his bid to keep Soares.

Soares is down the pecking order at Stoke and was sent to Wednesday in a bid to regain some match fitness.

And he's doing that with the Owls, coming on leaps and bounds with each game he plays, becoming a first team regular under Irvine.

Wednesday fans and Irvine alike will no doubt be hoping they can keep the midfielder for another month at least.
