No Offers For Sodje

No Offers For Sodje

Wednesday boss Alan Irvine has revealed that he's yet to receive any offers for striker Akpo Sodje during the January transfer window.

Sodje looked all set to return to League 1 promotion hopefuls Charlton Athletic this month after enjoying a loan spell with the Addicks earlier this season.

But Charlton have yet to come back in for the former Port Vale man.

And Wednesday are unlikely to accept another loan offer for the hitman, with his contract up at the end of the campaign.

It leaves Sodje's future at Wednesday in the air with just days remaining of the transfer window.

'The lad is looking to secure his long-term future,' boss Alan Irvine told the Sheffield Star.

'If somebody comes in with what he thinks is a good offer, it may well be that we have no choice but to take that.

'At the moment, that's not happened, so he will continue to be in our plans and to try to earn a contract here.'

Sodje has been on the Owls substitutes bench for the last two games, but could well be a useful addition to Irvine's squad should he stay at S6, in light of Jermaine Johnson's injury set-back.

I am sure that Sodje would love to stay but doubt that we will offer him a new contract. He's in the treatment room too often. Sodje knows this and that's why he is so keen to go to Charlton or anywhere else that will have him.
