Scunny Out For Owls Revenge

For Scunthorpe United, revenge is a dish best served cold as far as tonight's clash with Wednesday at Glanford Park is concerned.

The Owls dished out a 4-0 thumping on the Iron earlier in the season in the reverse fixture at Hillsborough - Wednesday's biggest success of the season so far.

And that defeat is still firmly with Nigel Adkins' men as they go into tonight's clash on home soil looking for revenge against Alan Irvine's in-form men.

The Iron boss has revealed the defeat was the worst performance by his men this season, and he's keen to settle the score tonight.

Indeed, Wednesday could, and probably should, have netted more than the four goals in the rout at S6.

But Irvine and his men will face arguably their toughest test since the former Preston boss came to the club against a Scunthorpe side eager to settle the score.

'I think we owe them one,' Adkins told the official Scunthorpe website.

'We were all disappointed with the outcome of our last game against them.

'That's the one game that stands out to me. We've had some poor results, but for me this was the worst one.'

Irvine will no doubt need to fire his troops up for the relegation 'six pointer' tonight, as both teams look for a crucial victory to ease their respective relegation fears.
