City Release Owls Target Bischoff

Former Owls loanee Mikkel Bischoff has been released from his contract at Manchester City along with nine other City players, following four years at Eastlands.

The Danish centre-back made four appearances for the Owls during his loan spell at Hillsborough but was ruled out for the rest of the season following an injury picked up against Burnley.

Wednesday were unbeaten during his time at the club, and Owls boss Paul Sturrock expressed his desire to keep the Dane at Hillsborough permanently this summer. Sturrock has said he wants five players to come in and boost ther squad ahead of next season.

The only concern will be the injury problems picked up by Bischoff over the past few years. Bischoff had a loan spell at Championship rivals Wolves ended early through injury last year and failed to secure a permanent contract as a result.

Bischoff certainly showed he had enough quality to strengthen the Owls defence next season after he formed a strong partnership wth Graham Coughlan during the four appearances he made.

However good he was if he's not going to be fit 40 games a season we shouldn't be signing him, especially as he won't be a low earner

I dont think we'd be daft enough to sign a player who isn't fit enought to play 30+ games a season. Sturrock has said his main aim is consistency so I think he'll have a good think about it. He's definately a top player when fit though. PS nice name! :)
