Sodje Turns Back On Pirates For Addicks

Bristol Rovers boss Lennie Lawrence has revealed that Wednesday striker Akpo Sodje was all set for a loan move to the Memorial Stadium before opting for a last-gasp move to Charlton Athletic.

Sodje left Hillsborough for League 1 promotion hopefuls Charlton on a loan deal until the end of the season on transfer deadline day.

For the striker it was a second move to The Valley after he enjoyed a loan stint at the club earlier in the season.

But he looked all set for a move to Bristol Rovers after agreeing terms with the Pirates before Charlton's last-minute bid.

The former Port Vale man was always likely to return to the Addicks, after boss Phil Parkinson made it clear that there could be a permanent deal on the table at the end of the season.

Sodje's deal at S6 ran out in the summer, and he looks to have played his last game in the blue and white stripes.
