Irvine Targets Six More Wins

Wednesday boss Alan Irvine believes his side need six more league wins to complete their great escape from relegation.

Irvine guided the Owls to their fifth win from seven games with the Scot in charge against Blackpool at Hillsborough last night.

And, after setting a target of eleven victories after being appointed manager, Irvine insists six more wins will be enough to keep the Owls in the division.

'We are still very much in it (the relegation battle),' he told the official SWFC website.

'A couple of bad results and other teams are catching up on you. Reading have scored late on tonight to win the game and I think this contest is going to go a long, long way. We still need six wins but it sounds a lot better now; six wins out of sixteen rather than eleven wins out of 23.'

The Owls face a weekend without action on Saturday with their scheduled opponents, West Brom, in FA Cup action.

But Irvine and his troops will no doubt be keen to get the magic number down to five when Doncaster Rovers are the visitors to Hillsborough next Tuesday night.

I think 6 wins is possible, but lets just take 1 game at a time. Donny tues night not going to be easy, hope Tudgay gets on the scoresheet he works hard and needs the reward of a couple of goals in the next two home games. Also Ejasas to start

I think it was Lawsy that last season said we were going to be the "Burnley" slipping into the playoffs. What a beautiful irony that is going to be - teams that pass in the night
