Sit Back And Watch

With no match for Wednesday this weekend all we can do is sit back, watch Jeff Stelling and his friends, and hope for the results to go our way.

The Owls were meant to be in Championship action against promotion-hopefuls West Brom this weekend, but the Baggies' FA Cup run will see them at Reading tomorrow instead.

It means that with a number of Wednesday's relegation rivals in action, it could still be an eventful weekend for Wednesdayites.

Plymouth, Scunthorpe and Peterborough are the teams below us who will be trying to bag three crucial points in the battle against the drop.

Argyle travel to Barnsley, Scunthorpe to Leicester and Peterborough to Middlesbrough - some tough matches for the trio.

Not forgetting Coventry City, Bristol Rovers and Doncaster - who are all in and around the Owls as I type.

Only the Swansea City clash against Newcastle United has little significance for Wednesday fans this weekend.

So, despite the lack of excitement for a Wednesday match, it could still be a big weekend for Alan Irvine and his men in the battle to avoid relegation.

Soccer Saturday here we come...
