Mixed Results For Owls

Mixed Results For Owls

Wednesdayites could sit back and watch on Saturday afternoon as the Championship brought up a mixed bag of results as far as the relegation battle is concerned.

The Owls had no match this weekend due to scheduled league opponents West Brom being involved in FA Cup action.

But the majority of matches in the Championship went ahead and they produced a mixed bag as far as Wednesday are concerned.

It looks like another nail in the coffin for basement side Peterborough United, who lost 1-0 at Middlesbrough and sit 12 points adrift of safety.

But there was hope for second-bottom Plymouth Argyle, who produced one of the shock results of the day with a 3-1 success at Barnsley.

Scunthorpe United suffered the biggest blow of the day, and in emphatic style too as Leicester City thumped them 5-1 at the Walkers Stadium to leave them on the brink of the bottom three.

QPR and Bristol City both also fell to defeat, against Coventry City and Sheffield United respectively.

The big movers in the bottom half were Doncaster Rovers, Wednesday's opponents on Tuesday night, as they produced the shock of the day with a 1-0 win against promotion hopefuls Nottingham Forest at the Keepmoat Stadium.

So lots and positives and negatives as far as we're concerned, but I'd say that on the whole the results went for us today.
