Purse Faces Up To Three Weeks Out

Wednesday captain Darren Purse is set for a spell of between two to three weeks on the sidelines through injury.

The former Cardiff City man picked up the injury in training on Thursday and will miss the trip to Reading next weekend.

Owls boss Alan Irvine will be keeping everything crossed that he returns for the next match on home soil against Leciester City in two weeks' time.

He told the official SWFC website: 'He got injured in the early stages of training on Thursday. It looks like he will be out for two or three weeks.'

Purse missed yesterday's home defeat against Ipswich Town and his absence will be a blow to the Owls given Purse's upturn in form in recent weeks.

James O'Connor will take the captain's armband while Purse is out, while new signing Eddie Nolan is expected to get a first team debut against Reading after signing on-loan from Preston.
