Can Wednesday Stay Up?

Can Wednesday Stay Up?

Do you think Wednesday can avoid relegation this season? Has Alan Irvine got what it takes to inspire his troops to survival? We're asking you what you think on this week's Vital Wednesday poll.

There's no doubt about it, we're in a relegation dog fight and it's looking to stay that way right until the last minute.

But can we survive?

Irvine certainly enjoyed a good start to his time as Owls boss, beating Barnsley in his first game in charge at Oakwell before guiding Wednesday to more impressive wins - with five wins from seven games his record before last week's meeting with Doncaster Rovers.

Form has dropped, and two dire performances against Rovers and more recently Ipswich Town have highlighted the problems we're facing before the end of the season.

So what do you think, stay up or go down?

Vote now on the weekly Vital poll on the home page.

At the moment I'd say we can stay up but might change my mind after Saturday, I'm going to Reading to cheer the boys on so hopefully they put in as much effort as I do!!

If we play like we have in the last two games then we might not get annother point for the rest of the season let alone avoid relegation! It's definitely squeaky botty time!

Personally i think we'll go down, i just don't think the players have what it takes to get us out of this mess that they got us into, like i said from the 14 fixtures we have left, we got 8 points from the corresponding games earlier in the season out of a possible 42, i think we'll get a bit more than that this time but not enough to keep us up. I hope i'm wrong Nick but thats how i feel.

I wasn't impressed with Irvines appointment, but I have changed my mind about him. He is the right man for the job. However I feel we have a very poor squad. Laws has replaced any flair players we had with low quality robots. I fear the worst but we have a chance with Irvine. That said, going back to the squad - you can't polish a turd.

I fear this could be one of those seasons that we'll never forget, and all for the wrong reasons. I just pray the defining game isn't against the pigs, if we need to get a result against them to stay up, I fear we will bottle it. It was bad enough in 1990, when we got relegated from the top division the same season as they went up. If they send us down, it will be very hard to take.
