'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Welcome Back, Nige...

Although three points are all that matters against Leicester City today, Wednesdayites can look back with fond memories of the Foxes' manager, and welcome 'big Nige' back in fine style.

The defender is highly regarded amongst Owls fans for his time at the club in the late 80's and early 90's, but that will be put to one side for 90 minutes, at least, this afternoon.

Nige is regarded as a Wednesday legend and was part of one of the 'golden eras' at the club in recent times, an era which included lifting the League Cup against Manchester United.

He led the Owls out at Wembley for that famous day as John Sheridan's cracker gave Wednesday their last cup glory against United.

The Owls' skipper also helped them to promotion to the 'old' Division 1 and then on to the famous Cup Final 'double' against Arsenal in 1993, sadly being injured for the final clashes at Wembley.

All-in-all he made over 200 appearances in the famous blue and white stripes but all that will go out of the window come 3pm this afternoon.

He'll put all his links with the club to one side as he looks to continue Leicester's push for promotion from the Championship this season and make Wednesday's task of survival even tough.

Pearson has done a superb job at the Walkers Stadium, guiding the Foxes to promotion from League 1 at the first time of asking while building a squad capable of competing at the right end of the Championship.

Of course, Vital wishes Nige all the best in his management career, but a blip thus afternoon at S6 would be a nice touch from the big man...

UP THE OWLS.
