Sturrock Eyes Dons Defender

Owls boss Paul Sturrock has revealed that highly-rated Aberdeen defender Kevin McNaughton is one of the players he is considering to bolster his squad for the new season.

Vital Sheffield Wednesday brought you the news that Sturrock was interested in the Scot last week, and the Owls boss has now confirmed McNaughton is one of the players he's looking at this summer.

Sturrock told the official SWFC site: 'He's one of many I've watched and one of many on my list.'

But it's likely the Owls will face tough competition for the signature of the defender after media reports confirmed a number of Championship clubs are interested in bringing him south of the border.

The 23-year-old former Scottish Young Player of the Year has made 165 league appearances for the Dons side after progressing through Aberdeen's academy. He's also netted three times.

Sturrock has revealed he hopes to confirm the signing of a second player next week, after bringing former MK Dons midfielder Wade Small to Hillsborough early this week.

class player, although can we take more than one of bougherra, mcnaughton and bischoff bearing in mind we're just tied bullen in for another year?
wednesday4europe
hope for a bit of youth at the back, bullen will not play much this season i think, very much a 'squad' player

Who says we're going to have to take more than one of our targets anyway? Sensible that KPS is looking at several, surely?

Paul sturrock made some shrewd buys when he was with us. So anyone he is looking at have to be good.

We seem to be after defenders galore. I wonder if we'll still be going for him even though we've signed Bougherra?
welshyowl
i think we will go for him as well because sturruck has ended his intrest in bischoff officially so 1 more would be good i think.
