Irvine Pleased With Battling Owls

Wednesday boss Alan Irvine was left pleased with his battling Owls side after they left Wales with a well-deserved point against high-flying Swansea City.

The point moved the Owls out of the Championship relegation zone following Scunthorpe's defeat against Ipswich Town.

It brings to an end a tough week of fixtures for Wednesday, after beating promotion-chasing Leicester City and only just losing out against West Brom in midweek.

'I thought it was a good performance from the lads and it's a well deserved point,' Irvine told the official SWFC website.

'We battled well throughout and the shape was fantastic when we didn't have the ball and I thought we could have even snatched it as we had a few chances too.'

Irvine now faces a tough trip to former club Preston North End on Tuesday night and although the Owls are out of the bottom three, Irvine and his troops won't be getting carried away.

He continued: 'It's nice to be out of the bottom three but we're not going to get carried away. We know that there's a long way to go if we are to stay in this division. As long as we're out of the bottom three on the last day of the season, that will be fine for me.'
