Palace Blow Relegation Battle Open

Palace Blow Relegation Battle Open

The Championship relegation battle may not be as straight forward as some Owls fans would have liked or hoped after Crystal Palace picked up a huge win at Watford tonight.

The Eagles ran out 3-1 winners against the Hornets in the proverbial relegation 'six pointer' to blow the relegation dogfight wide open.

It brings Palace, who occupy the final relegation spot, to within two points of Wednesday going into the weekend matches.

The best result for Wednesday tonight would have been a Watford win, keeping Palace five points adrift of the Owls going into the weekend matches, despite Watford leap-frogging above them with three points.

But it gives the Selhurst Park club a huge confidence boost going into the 'business end' of the season, and leaves them fighting another day.

A better result for the Owls came at Home Park where Barnsley held Plymouth Argyle to a 0-0 stalemate.

The result leaves the Pilgrims five points adrift of safety and six points behind Wednesday.

Will the Owls' final day clash against Crystal Palace at S6 be a winner-takes-all clash? It's looking ever more likely...

not the result we wanted but we need to focus on winning OUR games. not relying on what others do.

If we are good enough then other results won't matter.

pitty sir warnock still isn't there....just imagine him sending wendy down at the sty on the last game of the season with his blades shirt on underneath his coat.....priceless. I think the only fact that is going to keep wendy up is that warnock is no longer there.

Funny you should say that PFL, my old man and I were saying the same thing.......with Colin at the Crystal palace helm, we could see them winning a Hillsbro. As it happens, he's not so with a bit of luck, we'll see you next season and reclaim our rightful place as S Yorks number 1 club as no doubt you'll be shopping with us a primark next year and with Slackwell in charge, I wouldn't be holding much hope for any signings............at least you might be able to put some players on the park that actually belong to you tho!

i know in terms of points a palace win was the worst result, but i think that result could kill watford, they have no confidence as it is and now in a week theyve been beaten by us and palace. i think phsycologically there are shot to pieces and there down.

agree with smiggy. Watford are low on confidence and dropping like a stone not as bad a result as first feared. Lets look again after Easter

very good andy, another phd blade. unfortunately the weakest side we have left to play is United and being a derby makes that a completely unpredictable result. we need to beat Bristol City and Palace and hope that is good enough
