'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Owls Fly The Flag Against City

Wednesday will host the England 2018 World Cup Bid 'Fly The Flag` Tour on Easter Monday when Bristol City, another city bidding to host the tournament, visit Hillsborough.

Having been unveiled at England`s friendly match against Egypt at Wembley recently, the huge flag is currently touring the candidate host cities under the 'England United, the World Invited` banner.

Owls captain, Darren Purse, said: "We are delighted to host England`s Fly The Flag Tour, Hillsborough is a fantastic venue for football and we are all hopeful that our stadium can be part of the World Cup in 2018.

I would urge all Sheffield Wednesday fans to show their support for the 2018 bid in any way we can so we can show that this is the best place on earth to host the World Cup."

Bristol City captain, Louis Carey, commented: 'Bringing the World Cup to England would give a massive boost to the sport in this country and would inspire children for generations.

'On a personal note it would be great to see Bristol hosting World Cup football too, a real honour for the city and something that would live on in the memory forever.'

There are a variety of ways supporters can Back the Bid including texting 'ENGLAND` to 62018, logging onto the official website www.england2018bid.com, joining the official Facebook page www.facebook.com/england2018 or by following the bid on Twitter www.twitter.com/england2018bid.
