JJ Set For Derby Start

Wednesday's jet-heeled attacker Jermaine Johnson is all set to get the green light to start the huge Steel City derby clash against Sheffield United on Sunday.

The Jamaican's fitness will come under assessment by Owls boss Alan Irvine during training this week but he's expected to get the nod for the Hillsborough dual.

Johnson returned to action as a striker in Wednesday's 1-0 defeat at Middlesbrough at the weekend after making a substitute appearance at QPR on his return back from injury.

It's unknown whether he'll start up front or in his regular position on the wing.

But his presence will be a big boost for a Wednesday side that are desperate for victory over the Blades - not only for bragging rights but also for three crucial points in the battle against relegation from the Championship.

Irvine said that: 'We will assess him, but thankfully he doesn't seem to be injured, he's only tight after playing the full 90 minutes.'

Johnson's fitness test could prove even more crucial give the fact that there are also doubts over Leon Clarke's fitness ahead of the clash.

The former Wolves man missed out at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday after picking up an injury in the pre-match warm-up and he'll face a late fitness test of his own ahead of the derby clash.

start him on right can cause problems from that area of the pitch.

he can cause problems whether he plays upfront or on the wing. Id like to see him play him on the right and start varney and jeffers up-front. Jeffers gets 90minutes and he wil be able to provide the goals if he gets service, JJ will give him the service from the right. don to boden, gray, soares or esajas to give him some from the left.

A few of the players took part in the soccer camp morning session today. JJ had all the kids chasing after him trying to get the ball, my son says he runs faster than I drive. Tudgay and Grant played in my son's game, he said Tudgay scored a rocket past Grant into the top corner. The kids absolutely loved the day.

so proud of the blades for giving up their shirt sponsor for the day and replacing it with the childrens hospital. Just shows what a good family run club we are..a great justure that will have costs us a lot financially to ditch our main sponsor for a big televised game. well done united!! now go and get those 3 points and help send em down!!
bladesforlife1889
A)its not a televised game, you moron. B)I doubt one game will have any financial implications as teams are payed for their sponsorship for the season, you moron. C)we've had the childrens hospital as our sponsor all season, despite our terrible financial situation, you moron. (D) you are a *****ing moron, now go and play with traffic.
ozzietheowl
Totally agree ozzie.

Great gesture giving up shirt sponsor for one day......we're doing it for at least two seasons because thats what true community clubs do, support the community. 3 Points Sunday will go a long way to ensuring championship football next season and blow Utd's faltering play-off charge, double incentive!! With the premiership parachutes payments stopping after this season Utd are well in the *****e not going up ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
sussexowl
you cause you own problems for yourselves financially and always have done which is why you are in the ***** now and have been for god knows how many years. the parachute payments stopped this sussexpig...you dummy!! administration and a 10 points deduction is looming in league 1 next season followed by league 2 football the year after. it's all ready n white in sheffield!!
bladesforlife1889
Doubt the city is all red and white considering we only have 2,661 tickets to sell in home ends of the ground, with the away allocation sold out. The pig-sty across the city doesnt even hold the amount of my nannans back garden. Come back BladesForLife1889 when you have a big stadium with good support.Total ****. As for the sponsorship we have the hospital on our shirt for 2seasons and wear it with pride. One match is nothing u moron. Our chairman might be a **** but atleast he isnt bleeding the club dry. Spends fans money on stupid hotels, nobhe*d
SWFC_LUKE
Apologies bfl, should have guess the parachutes payment have run out given you've got no money either. Surprised Utd haven't sued anybody this season to get some funds, scummy little club who all of football hate followed by braindead morons who know nothing about football that's why they follow a club who can't string two passes together. Howard got a sore neck watching the ball get hoofed over his head all game by donkey defenders up to complete camels for strikers, that's why he left to go somewhere that actually keep the ball on the deck and pass it around.
sussexowl
your all going to watch the big brother on sunday obviouslly as you struggle to normaly pull 20,000. some great songs will be coming out on sunday from the away end can't wait to see all the gutted league 1 scummy piggys crying at the end of the match as reality loomes big time. UTB!!
bladesforlife1889
shut it piggy, at the minute wednesday and united have sold the same amount of season tickets for next year already. No parachute payments and no money for transfers, united are in the same boat as us. UP THE OWLS!!!
SWFC_LUKE
united are in a similar positioin to when we got relegated from the prem i think, quite a bit of debt and several players on high wages that dont match their ability, no real quality in the team, i can see them struggling next season
ozzietheowl
united have only got 9 players in contract for next season(i think), not got any money to spend. wont be challenging for playoffs for a while. lets just see how good your support is then! want be able to hear the away end anyway last two times you lot have been quiet as a mouse!
