Palace Home In On Away Form

Wednesday may have home advantage on Sunday - but Palace's away form this season has been top drawer.

The Eagles boast the third best away record in the Championship this term, behind only top-two sides Newcastle United and West Brom.

It's a record which will give Palace fans plenty of confidence for their 'winner takes all' clash at a full-house at Hillsborough on Sunday.

It will also add more nerves to the 30,000 Wednesdayites that will cram into S6 for what's the Owls' biggest game since the League 1 Play-Off final.

Paul Hart's men have lost just five games on the road this season, wining five and drawing 12.

It's a far cry from their home form, which is traditionally so good partly thanks to the well-known difficulties in reaching Selhurst Park and the atmosphere inside the stadium.

Owls boss Alan Irvine will know of their impressive record on their travels all-too-well, and he'll also know that Sunday's game will be no ordinary league game - more of a cup match scenario.

Another positive sign is that one of Palace's five league defeats has already come in Sheffield - across the city with a 2-0 defeat against Sheffield United.

Wednesday will need to make two defeats in as many league matches for Palace in the Steel City this season to secure their Championship fate.

Bring it on...

No doubt it will be nailbiting and they'll put us through the ringer 'cos that's the wednesday way, wouldn't it be nice to run out 3 or 4 nil winners and be a nice comfortable game, ain't goona happen though. Already shipped the kids to the in-laws for the day 'cos I'm gonna kick and head every ball and my language will no doubt be pretty fruity, best my little uns are not around!! Will be wearing my wednesday shirt from the early 90's with HIRST on the back to hopefully bring some luck!!
